Samsung Shakes Up Smartphone Market with Early Galaxy S24 Launch

Samsung is set to release its latest flagship smartphone series, Galaxy S24, earlier than usual in January 2024. The tech giant has chosen San Jose, California, as the launch location, deviating from its traditional New York venues.

This strategic move places Samsung in direct competition with Apple, as San Jose is known as Apple’s backyard.

Galaxy S24 series, including the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, will be announced on January 17, 2024.

Following the announcement, customers can start pre-ordering the devices from January 18, 2024, with the pre-ordered units expected to reach customers between January 26 and January 30.

The general availability of the Galaxy S24 series will begin from January 30, 2024.

While the pricing details of the Galaxy S24 series are not yet disclosed, it is anticipated that Samsung will maintain a pricing strategy similar to the Galaxy S23 series. This suggests that the Galaxy S24 could start at around $900, with the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra potentially priced at $1,000 and $1,200, respectively.

Samsung is branding the Galaxy S24 as its first AI Phone, featuring advanced in-house developed AI features. One of the notable AI features includes real-time language transliteration during calls.

The company is also considering rebranding Bixby to Galaxy AI. This focus on AI technology represents Samsung’s commitment to innovation and staying ahead in the competitive smartphone market.

The decision to host the event in San Jose was influenced by Samsung’s close collaboration with Google and its desire to compete more aggressively with Apple. By launching the Galaxy S24 two weeks earlier than the Galaxy S23, Samsung aims to boost its revenue for the first quarter of the year.

The company is aligning its sales peaks with the launches of its Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series phones.

Galaxy S24 will launch with Android 14-based One UI 6 onboard, promising a range of new features and enhancements. This early launch is a strategic move by Samsung to capture a larger market share and set a strong tone for its 2024 sales.
