Samsung New AI Gauss Entering The AI Market
Samsung has recently introduced their new generative AI model named Samsung Gauss at the Samsung AI Forum 2023.
This new AI model is comprised of three components,
- Samsung Gauss Language
- Samsung Gauss Code
- Samsung Gauss Image
Samsung Gauss Language is designed to understand human language and answer questions similarly to ChatGPT. It’s aimed at boosting productivity by assisting with tasks such as summarizing documents, writing and editing emails, and translating languages.
Samsung plans to integrate this model into its smart devices, including phones, laptops, and tablets, although it has not confirmed which languages it will support.
Samsung Gauss Code is focused on helping developers write code more efficiently. It works with a code assistant called code.i and is intended to support developers with code description.
Samsung Gauss Image is all about image generation and editing. For example, it could enhance a low-resolution image to a high-resolution one.
Currently, Samsung Gauss is being used internally by Samsung staff, but it is expected to be made available to the public soon, although no specific timeline has been provided.
There are also reports suggesting that Samsung might release a Galaxy S24 model based on its Generative AI model as soon as 2024.
In response to concerns about security and privacy, Samsung has make an AI Red Team to monitor these issues from data collection to AI development, adhering to principles of AI ethics.
This development comes after Samsung had temporarily banned the use of generative AI tools on company devices earlier in the year due to an internal data leak. The AI model is named after the mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss, whose work is fundamental to AI and machine learning.
